Jazz à Vienne is an international music festival held in the antique theatre of a small town located a few miles from our Beaujolais vineyards. With its eclectic programme of international artists, fantastic sound system and professional, welcoming team, the festival is the perfect place to showcase our range of direct boxes. The 2026 edition will feature some incredible artists, including Deluxe, Samantha Fish, Groundation, Marcus Miller, Angelique Kidjo, De La Soul, Jon Batiste and Vulfpeck, amongst many others.
Over the past 2 years of our partnership with the festival, we have received feedback from our partners and friends to help us create the perfect scene companion for all musicians using jack-plugged instruments, including basses, guitars, strings, piezo pickups, synths and DJ equipment.
Its sleek black design helps it blend into the background, and the original LED strip backlighting has been replaced with a subtle power indicator on the LEVEL light.
It features the same Carnhill© VT24499 output transformer that gives a massive sound on the balanced output, as well as an integrated buffer on the link output for enhanced direct sound through your guitar or bass amp. The 100% discrete, hifi-inspired, Class A circuit is powered by a universal power supply, so is not limited by the small available current on the phantom power supply. It gives incredible headroom and acts as high-end instrument preamp with +13dB gain.
However, to accommodate any situation, we have also added an OUTPUT LEVEL setting that can be used to switch between LINE (+13 dB gain) and MIC (-10 dB gain) output levels. Used in combination with the INPUT PAD, this gives you plenty of gain-matching options: you can plug directly into a console line input for a clean, true-to-source signal, or you can go through your preferred mic preamp for added character.
Thanks to its very high input impedance (>4MΩ), the BOITE NOIRE accommodates piezo pickups perfectly, such as an acoustic guitar, a double bass or Yamahiko© piano pickups.
This 10-piece production batch of the BOITE NOIRE has make the show at the Jazz à Vienne festival until July 11th, and is now available for sale as B-Stock units, some with the festival logo, some without.
